A prayer

May God bless you with discomfort
At easy answers, half truths and superficial relationships
So that you may live deep within your heart

May God bless you with anger
At injustice, oppression and exploitation of people
So that you may work for justice, freedom and peace

May God bless you with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger and war
So that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and
To turn their pain into joy

May God bless you with foolishness
To believe that you can make a difference in the world
So that you can do what others claim cannot be done
May God bless you with the weirdest blessing possible- his divine burden

No baggage

I recently took a brief trip to New York city and as you know when ever you travel these days one needs to be conscious of the baggage you bring along. The airlines these days are charging fee’s for extra baggage and the baggage must only weigh in at 50lbs or you have to pay extra. This left me with a secure plan of packing very light and going with the safe choice of carry on luggage instead.

Even though in life, we travel from place to place, in relationships and such, it caused me to think of how much baggage we sometimes cause ourselves to carry along with us everywhere we go.  We all go through experiences that leave us with us questions, leave us wounded or unhealthy emotionally and sometimes we choose to leave those inside, locked away, never addressing them, ignoring the pain they caused, never searching the soul for answers or asking God for healing. Yet, in many instances we take that emotional baggage with us everywhere we go, into a new workplace, into a new project, into a new journey, new opportunity, new relationship and without realizing it we are paying hefty price of all this extra baggage.

If you are anything like me, then you probably have a few scars that didn’t heal right and needed some revisiting, I pray you can take the time for healing, find the time for some soul searching, take the much needed time to “unpack” alot of that baggage you may still be carrying around with you, buried deep inside of you, keeping you from moving forward, so that you can begin feeling the relief of carrying all of that emotional heaviness and stress.

You know what? It is great feeling to walk off a plane a go straight to your next destination without having to go to baggage claim right? What kind of baggage have you been holding inside? Work related/relationship related/stress related? Share your thoughts.

Ascend the hill band

Brilliant.
